VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
"This moment is the stillness, it is totally still. Awareness, consciousness, presence, whatever we call that which is our essential nature, it is not moving, it is not making any sound, it is just already here but often overlooked, overlooked even by the attempt to try to find it, any movement that we make makes the stillness seem absent. So just opening up like this and questioning with curiosity, as much curiosity as I could manage in any moment what really is that stillness, what is silence, what is presence? There is an opening there into something much, much deeper, an aspect of my being that I hadn't been able to access before, so I really hope that you had a little taste of that today here.
And you know this is not only a taste, it is a way of life, a way of moving through the world, a way of navigating your relationships, everything. What would happen if you interacted with other human beings from this place, where you didn't really know what stillness is, what you are, where you were just open to experience? There isn't a need to have a script or to have an agenda every moment, we can operate our whole day from this place of curious curiosity, moving into any situation in our life from this place, it's going to flow easier, it's going to be a very different experience, a place of not knowing, a place of openness. So to not know what the next conversation you're going to have is, or how it's going to go, to not know how you're supposed to be in this moment, to not know what you are even, just to be experiencing it, not to keep it up here, but to be experiencing it, actually seeing in each moment how that stillness moves as a human being, appearing as a human being from a place of quiet curiosity.
See if we can stay in this open mode of experiencing, what if we don't really know anything in this moment, by choice, just choosing to set down any ideas about why we're even here in this life? Can you operate from a sense of stillness that doesn't know anything? What does that feel like in your body when you explore that? The more we can let go of what we think we know, then the more we're going to be able to experience who we really are. We're only hurt or suffering from what we think we know, and for most of us that is just a few things that we're very certain of. We might feel very certain we know we're not awake enough yet, or not good enough yet to be awake, or not ready.
We might really feel that it's not going to happen for us. Can we be willing to let go of these ideas too, and be a blank slate coming to every moment from this place of not knowing, from curiosity? What is stillness we just experienced in our meditation? And then as we move through the rest of our day, what is stillness appearing as now? Maybe it's appearing as anger, or joy, frustration, boredom. Maybe it's appearing as insight, or love, bliss, sadness.
Maybe it's appearing as a traffic jam, or an angry person. A whole day can be this experience of curiosity that really allows us to live from a deeper place inside."
